Texas journeyman exam prep FAQ
How long is the free 10-question check?
The free check has 10 practice items, is untimed and takes about 28 minutes. You see the answer and explanation after each item. It is a short study check, rather than a full-length exam simulation.
What does the free check cover?
The check groups practice by the ten subject areas on the PSI outline, from services and feeders to branch circuits, wiring methods, equipment, motors, special occupancies and renewable energy, with both NEC Knowledge and Calculations items. It is a short study check, not a full exam simulation.
Is the 10-question check free?
Yes. You can start the check and see your score and subject-area breakdown for free, with no signup or payment.
Where does the practice content come from?
These are original practice questions written to the published PSI content outline. We never use real or recalled exam items. Treat the results as a starting point for study.
How is the check scored?
Practice items are grouped by the outline's ten subject areas, subject to available questions, and weighted to match the published item counts. This practice percentage helps set study priorities; it does not predict your exam score or license outcome.
Which NEC edition do the questions use?
The 2026 NEC, the edition the Texas exams are referenced to from 1 September 2026. Keep your own soft-bound copy open as you practice, the way you will at PSI.
Do you reproduce the NEC?
No. We cite the NEC by article, section and table number without reproducing its text. NEC and National Electrical Code are registered trademarks of NFPA.
