Texas master exam prep FAQ
How long is the free check?
The free check has 10 practice items, is untimed and takes about 30 minutes. You see the answer and explanation after each item. It is a short study check, not a stand-in for sitting the exam.
What does the free check cover?
The check groups practice by the ten subject areas on the PSI outline, with both NEC Knowledge and Calculations items. Services, feeders and motors carry more weight on the master outline than on the journeyman outline, so they carry more of the check.
Is the check free?
Yes. You can start the check and see your score and subject-area breakdown for free, with no signup or payment.
Where does the practice content come from?
These are original practice questions written to the published PSI content outline. We never use real or recalled exam items and we never reproduce NEC text. Each explanation cites the 2026 NEC article, section or table it relies on.
What do I need to bring to the real exam?
The exam is open book with a soft-bound 2026 NEC, and the bulletin allows only a silent, battery-operated, non-programmable calculator. Check the current PSI Candidate Information Bulletin for the full list before exam day.
